South Africa’s very willing private sector must be allowed to help our economy

South Africa’s private sector is showing great willingness to help to revive the country’s economy and it is noteworthy that in many areas the public sector is working alongside business and labour to fix things.

The two sectors where private-sector and public-sector collaboration is most visible is in rail logistics and renewable energy generation. Private-sector funding is being deployed to provide temporary human capacity essential to establish regulatory frameworks essential for sun and wind energy generation to be transmitted.

Deep-seated commitment to turning South Africa around is visible at the highest levels of business, government and labour. We saw it during Covid and thankfully it is again surfacing in very promising ways.
