Engen employees have once again made a difference in the communities to mark Nelson Mandela International Day.

On 18 July, Engenites based in KZN rolled up their sleeves and spent 67 minutes distributing and serving nutritious meals to the senior citizens residing at Tafta John Dunn old age home in the South Durban Basin.

Mandela Day commemorates the birth of South Africa’s first democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela, and calls on people across the planet to spend at least 67 minutes – one minute for every year Mandela spent fighting for justice, equality, and freedom – by doing good and serving those in need.

"As a brand committed to enriching lives for a sustainable future, Engen is honoured to participate in Mandela Day activities and give back to our communities," commented CSI Manager, Olwethu Mdabula.

“Everyone has the ability and responsibility to change the world for the better, which is why we commend Team Engen for rolling up their sleeves and contributing their time and energy.”

As a company that cares deeply about the communities in which it operates, and Mandela Day provides a poignant reminder of the importance of community service and solidarity. By participating in these activities, Engen not only honours the legacy of Nelson Mandela but also reinforces its commitment to social responsibility and community upliftment.

“At Engen, we believe in the power of collective action and the importance of making a positive impact. Engen’s participation in Mandela Day underscores our dedication to supporting those in need and fostering a spirit of unity and compassion,” added Mdabula.
