Crushing, screening and material handling solutions provider Pilot Crushtec International has expanded its locally developed crushing and screening range with the launch of the DynamiTrac XS200 Xtreme mobile scalping screen.  Shannon de Ryhove attended the launch and tells us more.

Pilot Crushtec’s DynamiTrac XS200 Xtreme mobile scalping screen is a compact, entry-level machine designed to provide small and emerging operators with a cost-effective, highly mobile screening solution.

The South African-designed and manufactured machine bridges the gap between productivity and affordability, offering the screening performance of a much larger machine while being compact enough to be shipped in a standard 40-foot container, as Pilot Crushtec International director of technical and customer support Jorge Abelho explains.

It's an entry level machine in terms of weight. It's the smallest machine we do, but what we really like about this machine, what's unique, is how aggressive it is, the screen box, and the feed size it can take.

So this one we specifically designed it around a big feed size and a small, compact, lightweight machine. 

That was one of our biggest design constraints. It had to fit in a container, so we did compromise a little bit on the screening angle. We would have liked to have gone a bit steeper on it, but container transport was a must because we want to ship it overseas, and it's the most efficient way to get it there. So the weight in the container was not negotiable, but we wanted to punch above its weight, so that's why it's got a big feed size and a high tonnage.

The DynamiTrac XS200 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including quarrying, aggregates production, recycling, construction, agriculture and mining.

At the heart of the XS200 is a double-deck screen that can handle feed material up to 300 mm in size. One of its standout features is its highly aggressive screen-box geometry, as Pilot Crushtec sales and marketing director Francois Marais explains.

In terms of the specifications of the unit, it's a pretty competent package that we've put together and managed to put onto the chassis. It's a double deck screen, and the important point, I think that a lot of operators will be keen to know is how big is it. How are you handling 200 tonnes of material? Well, we're doing it on a 2 m by 1.1 m screen box deck, which is relatively compact, but because of a couple of advances and features that we've added onto this mobile machine, it's capable of handling that volume of material. The one very compelling point, and the reason why we can do that is really the screen box angle. So, this is what in our industry we would say is extremely aggressive. We're able to move the screen box up to a maximum angle of 27 degrees which is extremely aggressive in this environment, and for a mobile machine. I'll be quite honest with you, I don't believe there is any other mobile screen that does that type of feature on it, which makes it very unique in the type of applications it can run in.

Well, it's ideally for a customer that doesn't need to do 400 or 500 tonnes an hour, but has got a big feed size. So it would be for a new contract or entry level. It would be for someone that moves around a lot or often. So contractors who do smaller jobs. You know, the bigger machines, logistically, getting them around, moving around costs a lot of money. Whereas this one is simpler to get in and out of sites, do smaller jobs, but it can do it at a high rate with a fairly large feed size. So that's kind of like what we're proud of is the feed size and the rate that it can do it at.

This proudly South African-manufactured machine deliberately avoids unnecessary complexity, and maintenance has also been simplified through accessible engine layouts, open service areas and heavy-duty components designed to withstand demanding African operating conditions.

We've gone for basic controls, basic layout. Really trying to make it a user-friendly machine and easy to keep going. So we've avoided complexity where we can. And then from a customer point of view, the other thing we did is we try to make it as versatile as possible. So we've gone for an end-tensioned bottom deck, so you can use different media on there. In the top deck, we've got side tension. You can put rapid screens, you can put punch plates. So almost any market, any application, we've got kind of like media that can fit in there. And then obviously then the screening angles and all of that. So we try to cover all the bases with it.
