Gold company Calidus Resources has appointed experienced mining operations specialist Richard McLeod as COO.

McLeod’s 45 years of international mining experience will be invaluable to help drive the operational performance of the Warrawoona gold project, in east Pilbara, as the company chases a 100 000 oz/y production target by 2025.

McLeod’s most recent role was that of COO at Macmahon. Prior to that, he spent 14 years with AngloGold Ashanti.

Current COO Paul Brennan will move to project development with a focus on the development of the BlueBar and Bulletin high-grade openpit deposits.

“By strengthening the operational team, Paul Brennan can focus on bringing the high-grade Blue Bar and Bulletin openpit deposits that sit within the Haoma JV into the Warrawoona mine plan. These openpits will deliver significant near-term cashflow and strong financial returns because they require minimal upfront capex, they are high-grade and they are on granted mining leases,” said Calidus MD Dave Reeves.
