Name of the Project
Beaufort West Solar PV facility.

Location
Beaufort West, in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Project Owner/s
South African renewable-energy developer and independent power producer (IPP) Mulilo.

Project Description
The facility will be one of South Africa’s largest utility-scale solar PV developments. It will have an installed capacity of 380 MW direct current, a contracted export capacity of
250 MW alternating current and will connect to the Droërivier main transmission substation, allowing for efficient integration into the national grid.

The facility is expected to generate about 818 GWh/y of clean electricity once operational. The electricity will be sold to commercial and industrial customers across South Africa through a multiyear power purchase agreement with South African renewable-energy IPP, aggregator and trader NOA.

The project is expected to avoid the release of 860 000 t/y of CO2-e emissions and generate enough electricity to power an estimated
345 000 households a year.
