The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) is gearing up for the highly anticipated 7th Annual WindAc Africa Conference, taking place alongside the prestigious Windaba Conference and Exhibition at the Cape Town International Convention Centre 2 (CTICC 2) from 1 – 3 October 2024.

Driven by the vision to become the premier academic wind conference in Africa, WindAc Africa serves as a vital platform for wind energy students from research institutions to exchange knowledge and engage with peers, thereby strengthening the cooperation between South African universities and the wind industry. One of the important aims of this conference is to create a path toward enabling an integrated approach to research in achieving a successful energy transition towards a low-carbon future.

Researchers and academics across the renewable energy landscape have submitted innovative abstracts for consideration, with the full paper submission deadline set for Thursday, 25 July 2024. Participants will showcase their research to a distinguished audience of industry professionals and stakeholders, academics, researchers, engaging in stimulating discussions and building valuable connections.

“Through WindAc, SAWEA fosters a dynamic environment where academic minds meet industry experience, accelerating advancements in wind energy research and development,” says Morongoa Ramaboa, SAWEA Chief Communications Officer. “We're excited to see how these research ideas will contribute to a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient wind energy future for Africa and beyond.”

The conference will feature engaging sessions, including insightful presentations, interactive panel discussions, and compelling case studies. Topics will cover innovative approaches to unlocking grid capacity, integrating green hydrogen technologies, and promoting sustainable wind energy policies.

Participants will also explore the socio-economic benefits of wind energy deployment, examine the environmental impacts of offshore wind projects, and strategise on enhancing wind energy localisation efforts.

WindAc Africa plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable energy by facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration among academia, industry leaders, and students.
