Founded with a commitment to driving excellence and innovation in the Heavy Haul industry and affiliated with the International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA), boasting 10 member countries, SAHHA prides itself as a progressive association that facilitates a platform for sharing cutting-edge technology and technical best practices locally and internationally.

SAHHA plays a pivotal role in advocating for rail-friendly freight solutions through providing a platform to disseminate state-of-the-art technological advancements that enhance efficiency and sustainability within the sector, positioning Heavy Haul for unprecedented success.

From train loading at the mines to train offloading at the ports, SAHHA's focus on the entire pit-to-port journey underscores its commitment to spearheading the transportation sector to be globally competitive.

As SAHHA prepares to host its biennial conference from the 26th to 29th of August 2024, under the theme: "Positioning Heavy Haul for Success - from pit to port”, the association invites industry professionals, stakeholders, and media representatives to join them in shaping the future of Heavy Haul logistics in South Africa.

"Through collaborative efforts and shared expertise, we are poised to unlock the full potential of South Africa's Heavy Haul industry," said Brian Monakali, founder and Chairman of SAHHA.

The significance of this conference cannot be overstated, particularly in the context of South Africa's mining industry, which continues to play a pivotal role in the country's economy. However, transportation challenges have hindered the country from fully capitalizing on its mineral wealth, making initiatives like SAHHA's conference even more crucial.

"The SAHHA Conference serves as a vital nexus for fostering collaboration, innovation, and progress within the heavy haul industry. By convening key stakeholders and thought leaders, we aim to drive meaningful dialogue, identify actionable solutions, and chart a course towards a future where heavy haul transportation is not only efficient and reliable but also environmentally sustainable." said Russell Baatjies, Chief Executive, Transnet Freight Rail and Platinum Sponsor of the Conference.
