RNE Pumps
Pump manufacturer Ryalsan North Engineering (RNE) Pumps is a specialist company in the design and manufacture of vertical spindle slurry, chemical and dirty water sump pumps, as well as the RNE horizontal pump.
Established in 1977 and built on the knowledge and expertise of almost 50 years in the mining industry, RNE can supply products and solutions to the South African, African and international markets.
Based in Johannesburg, RNE Pumps distributes and services top quality products to key South African mining companies. In addition, RNE exports to several countries including Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Ghana, Mali, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, as well as Argentina, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.
The success of the RNE pump has enabled the company to expand, with branches in North America, Namibia, Zambia, and Australia (pending), and registered distributors in Canada, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and the DRC.
RNE Pumps are designed to run dry, which is extremely useful in underground mining applications, where monitoring is often problematic, for dewatering and the removal of slurries and other dirty water. However, over the years, the company has diversified to many other applications, including pulp and paper, automotive, food and beverage, and other chemical plants and refineries, as well as sewage. With the use of various configurations, materials and motors, RNE Pumps is able to offer a wide range of products, tailor-made to suit specific applications.
All RNE pumps and motors are manufactured in South Africa to stringent international quality controls. The company is proud to have achieved accreditation in the following internationally recognised standards:
- ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality Control)
- ISO 14001: 2015 (Environmental)
- ISO 45001: 2018 (Health & Safety)
RNE Pumps is proud to offer products that are tried and tested and pumps that are hardworking, durable and require minimal maintenance, thereby greatly reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
RNE has a variety of vertical spindle pumps in its range of products. Most spares are interchangeable and can be tailor-made for each application. Impeller size, discharge diameters and rpm can be variated to produce the correct head and flow requirements, while the pioneering agitator, mounted in the suction, actively prevents blockages and premature pump failure.
Sump depths range from 300 mm to 1 500 mm as standard, and can be further increased to 3 000 mm with the use of a tailpipe.
The newly developed horizontal pump is another way that RNE Pumps is able to offer solutions to its customers. The same robust materials are used to produce a cost-effective, packed gland pump, running off the same motor as the vertical pump. Once primed, and with a foot valve in place, the pump continues to operate at a very low TCO. It is available with either an electric or a diesel motor configuration, and can be sledge mounted, have floor brackets, or be trailer mounted.
RNE manufactures its own sturdy steel frame, squirrel cage, flange mounted electric motors, ensuring they endure the rugged, watery and unsympathetic conditions they are developed for.
Motors are either produced to Anglo American Specification AAC538-31 or IEC specifications, available as 380 V, 525 V or 1 000 V –
3 pH ~ 50 Hz in the following sizes:
- • 7.5 kW – 4 Pole (1 450 rpm)
- • 15 kW – 4 Pole (1 450 rpm)
- • 22 kW – 2 Pole (2 950 rpm high speed)
- • 37 kW – 2 Pole (2 950 rpm high speed)
- • 45 kW – 4 Pole (1 450 rpm)
All pumps are available with cast iron motors from various accredited manufacturers, or as a bare shaft pump.
