Powder-form crystalline admixture PENETRON ADMIX is a non-toxic, third generation admixture that is added to new concrete during batching. Once inside the concrete, it reduces concrete permeability by permanently self-healing microcracks, pores and capillaries and effectively protecting the concrete against water penetration and the effects of deterioration, even under high hydrostatic pressure. PENETRON ADMIX provides projects with waterproof and durable concrete that can self-heal and seal cracks that develop during the lifetime of the concrete, up to 0.5 mm. 

PENETRON ADMIX is formulated to react with key concrete components to produce an integral crystalline formation. PENETRON ADMIX-treated concrete shows vastly improved chloride diffusion and sulphate resistance, permeability, drying shrinkage and abrasion resistance. The service life of PENETRON ADMIX-treated concrete is about three times that of conventional concrete, with a reduced need for maintenance.

PENETRON ADMIX is compatible with all commonly used workability admixtures (e.g. superplasticisers and retarders) and mix design formulations (trial mixes recommended prior to casting).

A non-toxic, non-staining green tracer in the bleed water during concrete placement and curing visually confirms the addition of PENETRON ADMIX.

The product has several performance highlights including that it resists high hydrostatic pressure; it provides self-healing capabilities for cracks up to 0.5 mm and it enhances the compressive strength of concrete. It is non-toxic and contains no volatile organic compounds, meaning it is NSF 61-certified for potable water applications.

It resists chemical attacks (pH3 to pH11) and it significantly reduces chloride penetration and carbonation.

It effectively counters alkali silica reaction and prevents corrosion of reinforcement steel. It is not a vapour barrier but rather it allows concrete to breathe.

It protects against sulfate attack, exceeds the requirements of ASTM C494-S (specific performance admixtures) and provides a fully waterproof and permanently dry concrete structure.
