Name of the Project
Hodogaya waste-to-energy plant rebuild.

Location
Hodogaya Ward, Yokohama, Japan.

Project Owner/s
City of Yokohama.

Project Description
The rebuild involves the reconstruction of the currently closed Hodogaya plant to address a future processing capacity shortage forecast, owing to the superannuation of general waste incineration plants in Yokohama City.

The new plant will comprise three V-type stoker incinerators, each with a disposal capacity of 350 t/d, providing a total capacity of 1 050 t/d. A stoker incinerator is the most widely adopted type of furnace used in waste-to-energy plants.

The plant will use heat energy produced during the incineration process to generate power with the highest levels of efficiency in Japan.

Potential Job Creation
Not stated.

Capital Expenditure
The total tax-excluded value of the contract, including the dismantling and removal of the existing structure and construction of the new facility, is estimated at ¥67.68-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
Completion and handover are scheduled for March 2031.

Latest Developments
None stated.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Environmental & Chemical Engineering Co, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (waste-to-energy facility rebuild).
