“There can be no greater gift than that of giving one's time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.”  Nelson Mandela

Engen employees have again helped make a difference in the communities in which we operate to mark Nelson Mandela International Day.

On 18 July 2022, 15 Engenites from Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg rolled up their sleeves and spent 67 minutes packing food hampers for distribution to vulnerable folk across the country.

Mandela Day commemorates the birth of South Africa’s first democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela and calls on people across the planet to spend at least 67 minutes – one minute for every year Mandela spent fighting for justice, equality, and freedom – by doing good and serving those in need.

Engen again partnered with social impact organisation, FoodForward SA to make a difference to the lives of those in desperate need.

Engen first partnered with FoodForward SA in 2020 and has since pledged R2 million in fuel support to help power their delivery of nutritious food to vulnerable people across South Africa.

“As a brand that committed to enriching lives for a sustainable future, Engen is humbled to partner with FoodForward SA and do our part this Mandela Day,” commented Dr James Xolani Nyawera, Engen’s Stakeholder and Transformation Manager.

“Everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better, which is why we commend Team Engen for rolling up their sleeves and contributing their time and energy.”
