Big 5 Construct South Africa and South Africa Infrastructure Expo, featuring Transport Evolution Africa, open next week, from 9 – 11 June at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, bringing together stakeholders across construction, infrastructure and transport supply chain to deliver the country's development priorities.

The events will gather over 400 exhibitors from more than 25 countries, showcasing products, technologies and solutions for South Africa's construction, infrastructure and transport sectors, creating opportunities for collaboration, procurement and knowledge exchange aligned with the country's ongoing and upcoming project pipeline.

“As South Africa continues to advance major construction, infrastructure and transport projects, the need for collaboration across the value chain becomes increasingly important,” said Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President, dmg events. “These co-located events connect public and private sectors with suppliers, technology providers and industry experts, helping to facilitate partnerships that support project delivery.”

Complementing the activities on the exhibition floor, the multi-track content programme will gather policymakers, project owners, investors and industry experts to address the opportunities and challenges that impact South Africa’s construction, infrastructure and transport sectors.

Running across the three days, the programme operates on two levels. At the leadership level, South Africa Infrastructure Summit discussions will cover driving delivery, investment and innovation across the infrastructure ecosystem. The closed-door, invite-only, CEO Forum gathers senior leaders from government, development finance institutions and the private sector for strategic discussions on infrastructure delivery and investment.

At the tactical and operational level, the sessions at Big 5 Talks will examine the digital transformation of construction, covering BIM, AI, smart construction sites, IoT, robotics and automation, alongside technologies that support more efficient project delivery.

Infra360 explores AI-enabled infrastructure planning and the use of data to scale infrastructure development, while sessions at Transport Evolution Africa focus on resilient and integrated transport systems, regional road and rail connectivity and the role of digital infrastructure in supporting smart mobility.

Extending the focus on industry leadership and operational excellence, Big 5 South Africa Impact Awards will take place on 10 June, recognizing the projects, initiatives and individuals driving South Africa's built environment. The awards celebrate projects, initiatives and teams across 13 categories, highlighting achievements that contribute to the advancement of the built environment.
