Project Description
The core function of the VGWSS is the distribution of purified bulk water for mining, and for industrial and domestic use; it will provide a sustainable water supply to 2040.

The project includes the upgrade of the water scheme, which comprises a raw water pumpstation, purification works, six booster pumpstations, several reservoir facilities and a pipeline network of about 470 km from the Vaal to Hotazel.

The estimated cost is R18-billion.
