Oswald and Hlahla join Esorfranki board

Civil engineering firm Esorfranki on Friday said it had appointed Dr Oswald Franks and Monhla Hlahla as independent nonexecutive directors with effect May 23.

Franks, who is the CEO of the Engineering Council of South Africa, had been involved in the engineering field since 1978. He has held positions that include senior lecturer and head of department at the Peninsula Technikon, as well as Faculty of Engineering dean and director at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s Institute of Technology.

Meanwhile, Hlahla’s career had largely been in the infrastructure development and financing sectors. She had, among others, held the titles of Development Bank of Southern Africa bulk infrastructure project manager and Airports Company South Africa MD.

Hlahla was named The Black Management Forum’s Business Personality of the Year in 2008, in December 2011 she was appointed chairperson of the Industrial Development Corporation and she was named chairperson of black-empowered platinum producer Royal Bafokeng Holdings in April 2012.
