New commercial printer options

Epson's SureColor SC-P6500D commercial printer

Epson has expanded two of its commercial printing ranges with the addition of six new models:

Epson says its unique heat-free technology means that the SL-D500 has a reduced carbon dioxide shipping footprint and requires less energy per print than previous models. The ink bottle carton box is made from 100% recycled material, further enhancing environmental sustainability. The company notes that it has reduced its operating energy consumption from 500 W to 18 W, over the past 10 years.

With very low power consumption, the SL-D500 is said to be a low-cost solution for photo or double-sided card prints, small books and table calendars. Promising exceptional levels of image quality, it is said to be ideal for complementing or replacing dye-sublimation printers in retail photo outlets or for event photographers. The unit is also stackable, which means it can be used on countertops and requires minimal space. It enables high-quality on-site production and can function using either a portable battery pack or mains power. It also features an integral transportation lock, for increased portability.

The new 24-inch SC-T3700D (dual roll) and 36-inch SC-T5700D (dual roll) models added are designed to meet the technical drawing needs of the architectural, engineering and construction industries, and can also be used to produce quality advertising posters for retail and public sector users. With a compact footprint, the products are said to be among the smallest large-format printers currently available, with print speeds of up to 150 m²/ hour for increased productivity.

Epson’s SC-Tx700 printers use its 6-colour, UltraChrome XD3 all-pigment inks which include a new red ink that widens the colour range of the printers and makes them particularly suited for applications such as marking up computer-aided design drawings and replicating corporate logos.

Enhanced information technology and security features include encrypted pin/passwords and access control list as well as 802.1x network authentication for secure communication, SNMPv3 and device identity certificate, and encrypted solid-state drives, or SSD, and near-field communication, or NFC, card authentication for protection of confidential documents.

Epson’s signature variable sized droplet technology and nozzle verification technology, together with Adobe PostScript are included in both new models as standard, aimed to ensure consistent and exceptional image quality with minimal maintenance.

An intuitive user interface, self-loading media, and easy self-maintenance are designed for ease of use. Remote mobile printing, faster data processing and remote real-time monitoring and management through the Epson Cloud solution PORT platform, helps to streamline workloads. Maintenance tracking and remote troubleshooting services are also available to help improve efficiency and productivity.
