Mpama South’s development is expected to increase annual contained tin production from the current 12 000 t/y to 20 000 t/y – about 6.6% of the world’s mined tin.

Contained tin production is estimated at 7 232 t/y.

Total run-of-mine (RoM) ore processed is estimated at 2.07-million tonnes, with average annualised RoM mined and processed estimated at 468 000 t grading 2.21% tin.

Latest Developments
Alphamin Resources has reported that tin concentrate production from the new Mpama South plant is imminent, with first ore having been successfully introduced on April 28.

The final plant commissioning phase is under way and should result in tin concentrate production ramping up during May.

The underground mine is ready to feed the plant at targeted rates.
