Project Description
JB4 will be the biggest single-site data centre on the African continent.

JB4 is the latest expansion to Teraco’s growing data centre platform and takes critical power load capacity at Teraco facilities to 126 MW, which includes the Isando Campus JB1/JB3 (40 MW), Bredell Campus JB2/JB4 (64 MW), Cape Town Campus CT1/CT2 (21 MW), and Durban (1 MW).

The first phase of JB4 comprises 30 000 m2 of building structure, 8 000 m2 of data hall space, and 19 MW of critical power load.

The Phase 2 expansion will bring the total critical power load in the facility to 50MW at the end state.

Capital Expenditure
Teraco finalised a new R2.5-billion loan financing transaction for the project in February 2021. Teraco will use the funds, raised with cash generated inhouse, to finance the build.

Planned Start/End Date
Teraco announced the completion of Phase 1 in November 2022.

Teraco has completed the first phase of JB4 and has also secured adjacent land and power for the Phase 2 expansion.
