DEWA signed a 30-year water purchaser agreement with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power in October 2023 for Phase 1 of the project using solar power.

Project Description
The 252 300 m2 project is the biggest of its kind in the world for water production based on seawater reverse-osmosis (SWRO) technology using solar energy.

The water desalination capacity in Dubai is currently 490-million imperial gallons a day (MIGD). This capacity will increase to 670 MIGD in 2026 and to 730 MIGD by 2030.
