Multi-asset West Australian lithium company Global Lithium Resources announced on Wednesday that Geoff Jones had resigned as nonexecutive chairperson with immediate effect.

The company appointed Ron Mitchell as the new executive chairperson. Concurrently, Dr. Dianmin Chen has been named executive director.

Mitchell, currently serving as MD, brings a wealth of executive experience, having held key roles at Talison Lithium and Tianqi Lithium. His leadership extends to international platforms, including chairing the London Metal Exchange (LME) Lithium and Cobalt Committee, highlighting his influence in the lithium sector.

Under Mitchell's stewardship, since March 2022, Global Lithium has achieved significant milestones. These include securing a critical offtake agreement with Canmax, attracting Mineral Resources as a cornerstone investor, executing strategic mergers and acquisitions, and expanding the resource base to 69.6-million tonnes across the Manna and Marble Bar lithium projects.

Chen, a founding director of Global Lithium with over 35 years of industry experience, assumes the role of executive director. His background in mining and metals spans technical, production and management roles across Australia, China and Canada.

Chen's leadership will focus on advancing the Manna lithium project, particularly towards completing the definitive feasibility study by 2024 and progressing to a final investment decision by 2025.
