The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) says an accident occurred at its Salt River depot, in the Western Cape, on February 27, claiming the lives of a PRASA employee and a contractor.
They lost their lives while they were conducting testing and commissioning of refurbished motor coaches.
"The families of the deceased have been notified and family and the deceased’s immediate colleagues are receiving comprehensive support. The PRASA Western Cape region has alerted authorities and an investigation is currently under way.
"PRASA deeply regrets the loss of life and extends its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased," it says.
