Project Description
Riverstone Mall forms part of Alley Roads’ 175 000 m2 development pipeline earmarked for underserved township and peri-urban areas across South Africa. The mall has a gross lettable area of 18 000 m² and is expected to have 53 retail tenants. The mall will be anchored by Checkers Fresh-X, Woolworths Food and Dischem. Other retailers include Clicks, Truworths, Mr Price and the Pepkor Group.

The development will offer 1 000 parking bays, a food court and two fast food drive-through outlets. A 1 908 kVA solar plant will be installed on the roof with a battery backup of 4 800 kWh, equivalent to four hours of 1 200 kVA, ensuring that the mall remains operational during loadshedding.

Phase 2 of the development will comprise 3 000 m² of motor-related retail.

Potential Job Creation
During the construction phase, the mall will create 1 200 jobs. A further 250 permanent jobs will also be created.

Capital Expenditure
R370-million.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is scheduled for opening in early 2025.
