PRETORIA – Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane will in the next few days hold a meeting with stakeholders in the mining sector to discuss challenges and opportunities available in the industry.

“I am well aware of the critical role that this sector plays in the economy, and the challenges it faces not only locally, but globally as well,” Zwane said.

He will be meeting with stakeholders from organised business and labour.

“I am confident that with the support and collective wisdom of the leadership of the industry, we can work together to move the mining industry, and indeed the South African economy, forward,” he said.

The Department of Mineral Resources said the Minister appreciates the cyclic nature of the industry and asserts that the difficult times present opportunities to find innovative ways in which the industry can be positioned along a trajectory of sustainable growth, whilst catalysing broader development in the country.
