How innovation and technology are shaping mining’s future at MiningForum 2026
In view of the growing demand for raw materials in our contemporary economy and increasingly fragile supply chains due to geopolitical changes, the focus of the raw materials industry is shifting to securing a sustainable supply. The 18th MiningForum, Germany´s largest international networking conference for the mining and raw materials community, addresses these pressing topics under the motto “Raw Materials Momentum” on June 18th and 19th in Berlin.
The growing complexity of the global market and the diversification of energy sources and raw materials require new exploration methods and technologies to ensure the sustainable extraction and resilient supply of raw materials. In a session on “mining technologies” on June 18th, 1:30 p.m., moderated by Dr. Michael Paul from Wismut GmbH, experts from research and industry will present how this can be achieved and how modern, digital technologies are applied to ensure economic efficiency and sustainability in modern mining:
- Ulrich Schöpf, BAUER Maschinen, on “Vertical Cutter Mining – a sustainable technology for mining”
- Simon Herrenknecht, Herrenknecht, on “The role of Horizontal Directional Drilling in mining applications”
- Emilia Hennen, RWTH Aachen University, Institute for Advanced Mining Technologies (AMT) on “Debris detection for automated loading”
- Dzianis Iholka, REDPATH DEILMANN on “Fast Mine Access and Shaft Sinking Technologies for Strategic Mineral Deep Deposits”
- Patricio Alejandro, Rojas Ábalos, Antara SpA on “Collaborative Traceability for Mining Supply Chain”
Join more than 400 participants in Berlin to discuss the future of mining. With over 50 specialist presentations, interactive panels, and a trade exhibition, MiningForum 2026 offers a comprehensive view of the opportunities and challenges in the industry.
