The Simplex range of mechanical and hydraulic equipment, distributed in Southern Africa by Becker Engineering, includes robust H- and C-frame presses that improve efficiency in metalworking procedures.
Product manager for Becker Engineering Eugene Davids says, “These Simplex presses, with capacities between of 5 t and 200 t, are designed for bending, pressing, straightening or disassembly jobs.” He adds that the units are used to remove bearings, straighten cylinder rods, manufacture small hoists, perform wheel repairs and rebuild gearboxes.
“Simplex presses have sizeable work areas that accommodate larger jobs and facilitate the loading and unloading of work. These presses, which are also available custom built for specific requirements with a wide range of pressing and cylinder strokes and styles, are enhanced by Simplex manual or power pumps for any application.”
The Simplex H-frame presses have a movable work head that rolls easily across the entire length of the top cross bar. This allows the pressing force to be positioned at any point of the press bed. The adjustable work bed can be raised or lowered to accommodate a variety of metalworking tasks.
These easy-to-operate presses have a friction brake winch that adjusts the bed height and does not drop the bed if the handle is released. Selected pumps and valves provide maximum control for different applications. All electric pumps on presses with capacities of between 25 t and 200 t are fitted with a standard remote pendant control.
Simplex presses are not bolted together but have a double-pinned and heavy-duty welded construction to provide a rigid frame that improves operator safety.
For small production jobs, H-frame press benches, with capacities of between 10 t and 15 t, are recommended. The adjustable bed decreases time wasted during production. For user convenience, these presses are mobile, taking up little floor space.
C-frame 5-t and 10-t hydraulic presses are available with air, electric or manual power sources. All models in this range incorporate an open-throat design that makes loading and unloading larger jobs easier.
Simplex 100-t presses, which are recommended for straightening forgings prior to machining, improve worker safety in high-force pressing.
Simplex Monster presses, with capacities of between 150 t and 200 t, are designed for large jobs that require a reliable and safe high- tonnage press. Specific applications include reforming rail car components, installing and removing bolster parts and straightening or bending undercarriage assemblies.
Becker Engineering’s range of mechanical and hydraulic equipment includes cylinders, jacks, pumps, tools, punches, presses and specially designed accessories.
