Industrial machinery and solutions company Metso is reintroducing the high efficiency scrubber for efficient scrubbing of off-gas impurities in nonferrous and ferrous metallurgical processes and in oil, gas and chemical plants. The technology is suitable for both greenfield and brownfield installations.

Thanks to its adjustable scrubbing zone, the high efficiency scrubber removes particles from off-gases at varying gas volumes and dust loads. Additionally, the scrubber can be combined with the high-efficiency scrubber optimiser, a Metso digital product that automatically optimises the pressure drop based on the impurity load.

“The high efficiency scrubber is made of durable material and can thus withstand highly corrosive gases. In addition to its excellent scrubbing efficiency, the scrubber is maintenance friendly. Further, the adjustable scrubbing zone coupled with the digital optimiser minimises energy consumption while ensuring that performance targets are met even during varying process conditions,” explains Metso gas cleaning director Leif Skilling.

Metso has extensive experience with gas cleaning plant design and construction, developed over several decades and enhanced by the company’s continued activities in the research and development of the process.

Benefits

Firstly, the high efficiency scrubber allows for a consistent scrubbing efficiency at varying volumes or loads, while enhancing the process of removing impurities – even at low gas volume flow rates.

Secondly, when used with the high efficiency scrubber optimiser, energy consumption can be minimised, depending on the impurity load.

Further, different process requirements and plant layouts can be achieved through the configuration and optimisation of flexible solutions on offer from Metso Corporation.

Overall, the high efficiency scrubber and optimiser are manufactured from durable construction materials that can withstand corrosive gases, improving operational and environmental performance, while being easy to maintain.

Metso experts are available to provide support during commissioning of the Metso high efficiency scrubber and can also assist with comprehensive training for operators and management to ensure that the maximum benefits of the system are realised. Metso can also provide ongoing technical support and service as part of a service agreement.
