Industry organisation Consulting Engineers South Africa (Cesa) says it looks forward to working with new Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson.

“We trust [he] will be more responsive than his predecessor, particularly in partnering with Cesa to pursue the critical infrastructure development and delivery that is so desperately needed to create jobs and grow the South African economy,” says Cesa CEO Chris Campbell.

South Africa faces major challenges in driving economic growth. The country continues to struggle with low GDP growth, high unemployment, poverty and inequality.

“Cesa has always advocated for constructive and decisive leadership that focuses on national common interests, rather than individual or divergent agendas. Cesa emphasises the crucial role of leadership in driving infrastructure development and professionalisation within the public sector in South Africa,” he says.
