Netherlands

The Netherlands is a country in north-western Europe, bordered by Germany to the east, Belgium to the south and the North Sea to the north and west. The capital is Amsterdam, though the seat of government is The Hague. With a population of about 17.5-million, the Netherlands is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. The economy is highly developed and diversified, with key sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, services, logistics and technology. The country is a major European transport hub, home to the Port of Rotterdam, Europe's largest seaport and a critical gateway for trade including minerals and energy products. The Netherlands is a founding member of the European Union, the eurozone and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Its currency is the euro. The government is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. The Dutch economy is strongly oriented towards international trade, with significant exports in agricultural products, chemicals, machinery and refined petroleum. The Netherlands plays an active role in EU policy-making, particularly on trade, climate and energy transition issues. The country has invested heavily in renewable energy infrastructure and is working to secure supply chains for critical minerals essential to semiconductors and green technologies. Historically a maritime and trading power, the Netherlands remains a key player in global logistics and finance.
