Water-cooling company Industrial Water Cooling (IWC) has entered into an agreement with Danish plate heat exchanger manu- facturer Sondex to supply its products in sub-Saharan Africa as part of its objec-tive to expand IWC's prod-uct and service offering.

IWC will launch a new division in March at its existing premises in Kyalami, Midrand, which will sell new Sondex heat exchanger equipment, supply Sondex replacement plates and gaskets and service all brands of plate heat exchangers.

The company will also supply Sondex products to some Indian Ocean islands and sub-Saharan African petrochemicals, mineral and metal processing, power generation, pulp and paper, mining and sugar industries.

MD Roger Rusch says the company has been planning to expand, particularly in areas where it can add value to customers’ projects, since a majority share acquisition by professional investment management company Medu Capital in the second half of 2011.

He says IWC was impressed with the quality of the products and service offered by Sondex, after IWC had supplied a project with Sondex plate and heat exchangers.

“Once we determined that a move into the heat exchanger market was a natural extension of our business, sourcing and establishing a relationship with a reputable manufacturer was a simple matter,” Rusch notes.

Sondex will provide technical expertise and staff training for IWC’s new division and, when required, assist the company with marketing.

While some of the prod-ucts will be imported from Denmark, some pressure parts for the range will be manu-factured locally, with the machines being assembled at IWC’s facility in Midrand.

Rusch says Sondex has an innovative and solutions-driven approach that resonates with the way IWC goes about finding suitable solutions for its customers.

He says this makes Sondex compatible with IWC and enables the company to expand its product offering to existing cli- ents while further increasing its client base.

The Sondex product range includes condenser and evaporator plate heat exchangers, copper-brazed, semi- and all-welded plate heat exchangers, as well as freshwater distillers.
