The project proposes the development of 22 MW of prepermitted photovoltaic assets in the Malmesbury region of the Western Cape. The first phase of the project will have a 5 MW generation capacity.
The project falls under the Department of Energy’s renewable-energy independent- power producer procurement programme.
The first phase is expected to reach commercial operation in June 2013.
Juwi Renewable Energies has been awarded the contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, and will also be the operations and maintenance provider.
The Darling Trust will operate and maintain the site in the long term, through a skills transfer and handover from Juwi.
