A small South African born company, drone service provider Rocketmine, has become a drone data service giant in a short space of time. Rocketmine started as a small team that identified a gap in the mining market in 2012.
Founding member and MD Christopher Clark has a passion for using technology in innovative ways. “Finding a solution for the challenges experienced in the mining industry was a process. First, we had to understand the need, develop a solution and then execute operations safely and timeously. The introduction and adoption of technology in an industry accustomed to traditional methods was a challenge. This compelled us to understand our clients and endeavour to improve their operational efficiencies.”
In 2017, Rocketmine became a subsidiary of the Delta Drone Group. Rocketmine’s success model is changing business intelligence. Scalability has allowed the company to expand operations across Africa and Latin America.
With the largest commercial fleet of remotely piloted aircraft systems and more than 7 500 operational flight hours, Rocketmine offers several drone solutions and tailors them to the needs of their clients. Solutions include survey and mapping, blast monitoring, industrial inspection as well as security and surveillance.
Data can be collected from high-risk areas and produced at a fraction of the time of conventional methods. The data is accurate, reliable and provides the operational teams with the power to be proactive which effectively reduces costs.
“Our service offerings give us a competitive advantage. We are fully licensed by the South African Civil Aviation Authority and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority. In addition, we recently achieved Basic Compliance Verification and were measured against the Basic Aviation Risk Standards, a first in Africa for any drone company.
“The future of mines and drone application is changing rapidly. We make our footprints by integrating technology in industries using traditional methods to propel them into new-age data businesses,” concludes Clark.
