Manufacturer and supplier of rubber and polyurethane rollers Printflex Rollers moved to new, bigger premises, during November 2009, as part of its goal to increase profit and market share in 2010. The company's new premises are directly next to the building that it had occupied for 28 years and in the same street.
Printflex Rollers MD Riaan Becker says that the new building provides more space and height, which increases the production capacity and creates new possibilities for growth. The company now has more machines and the capacity to produce bigger rollers. Full production at the new facility started in January this year.
The new premises have enabled the company to double its production at its Johannesburg branch. "In the past, we could only produce rollers with a maximum diameter of 800 mm. Now we have the space and machines to produce rollers that are 1 600 mm in diameter," he explains.
For 2010, Printflex Rollers aims to achieve significant growth. Through expansion and innovation, the company aims to increase its profit, as well as its market share locally and in Africa. Although the economic recession influenced the company's production in 2009, the group did not experience significant challenges and has planned ahead for the economic upturn. "With the changes and expansion implemented at Printflex Rollers, in 2009, the company is geared for growth in 2010," says Becker.
The company plans to expand its operations by introducing its own series of preassembled print rollers in 2010. These rollers can be used directly after purchase as they are ready to operate.
Further, production at Printflex Rollers Durban and Cape Town branches will be increased in 2010. Currently, the specialised plastic material that covers oscillating rollers is only manufactured at the Johannesburg branch, however, the Durban and Cape Town branches will be improved this year to enable the production of these rollers .
Becker plans to visit a number of international countries later this year to investigate new technology and innovation in the global roller industry. The trip is part of Printflex Rollers goal to introduce and implement the latest global trends and innovations to the local market. As part of its green initiative, the company also aims to source new machines with reduced carbon footprints.
