Exhibitions organiser Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery will this year launch a new trade show, entitled Power Ex, that will focus on power generation, transmission and distribution, application and renewable energy.
“Power Ex is a premier showcase for the electric power and energy sectors and will provide a platform for exhibitors to deliver new products, services, technology and solutions to market,” says Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery MD Gary Corin.
The show will run from September 12 to 16 at the Johan-nesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, and will be colocated with mining and industrial show Electra Mining Africa, which hosts more than 850 exhibitors, occupies more than 38 000 m2 of exhibition space and draws more than 34 000 visitors, says Corin.
“We believe there is beneficial synergy between the new Power Ex trade show and Electra Mining Africa. Energy-intensive mining operations are under continued pressure to reduce dependence on traditional energy resources and decrease the significant draw on the country’s electricity grid infrastructure,” he says.
Corin adds that access to reliable and cost-effective forms of energy is a strategic priority for the global mining sector. As it is, industry is increasingly looking at alternatives such as solar, wind and other renewable-energy technologies, and Power Ex will be well positioned to offer a platform to address this matter.
Power Ex visitors will be able to view the latest products, technologies, services and solutions. Leading manufacturers and suppliers will be exhibiting and will include those involved in biofuels, boilers, heat exchangers, combustion systems, cable and wire, diesel and gas engines, equipment and services, energy technology, generators and all accessories.
The exhibiting manufacturers and suppliers will also include those in hydropower, lighting, metering and related components, renewable energy, equip-ment and services, sensors, solar power, switchgear and related equipment, transformers, wind and gas turbines.
Corin says thousands of visitors are expected from across South Africa, neighbouring African countries and overseas countries from regions such as South America, North America, Europe and Australasia, and, for many exhibitors, Electra Mining Africa is seen as a gateway into Africa for further business expansion.
