Process control and instrumentation specialist Jumo has introduced an outdoor mounted resistance temperature detector (RTD) probe to monitor building energy efficiency, suitable for use in the field of building services engineering.
Process electronics and instrumentation supplier Asstech Process Electronics & Instrumentation, based in Randburg, distributes the German-engineered Jumo range of process control instrumentation.
Asstech reports the white plastic housing of the temperature probe is ultraviolet resistant and can be fitted to walls through accessible fastening holes. Air chambers in the probe’s housing guarantee long-term stability and measurement precision, Asstech reports.
A connection cable can be inserted through a rubber stopper or plastic screw connec- tion, and the RTD is Ingress Protection 67-certified. This means that the device is completely protected against dust and moisture ingress.
Further, the outdoor probe is designed for operation in temperature ranges of between –50 ºC and 90 ºC.
For temperature monitoring, the sensor elements commonly used in building ser- vices engineering, such as platinum element sensors with resistances of 100 ohms and 1 000 ohms at 0 ºC, and others are available. The sensors are provided with additional protection to prevent condensation problems, the company reports.
