Packaging specialist Polyoak Packaging has launched a new division, Dairypack Cartons, which specialises in the marketing and distribution of aseptic packaging systems in Southern Africa.
Being in an exclusive partnership with packaging company IPI in launching this division, Polyoak explains that IPI is a full system supplier that has been providing fully integrated filling machines, multilayer packaging and closure solutions for the aseptic packaging of liquid products in multilayer structure for over 35 years. IPI forms part of machine industry company Coesia, which is a group of innovation-based companies operating globally and headquartered in Bologna, Italy.
“Polyoak has a long-established presence in the liquid food packaging market and, along with our core focus on customer service, and on producing high volume, high-quality plastic packaging, we are confident that this partnership will drive innovation in the local carton market,” says Dairypack Cartons executive Garron Boshoff.
He explains that Dairypack Cartons has partnered with IPI to offer the market new carton shapes, to push the limits of the standard “carton brick”. It is a coactive fit, with a focus on packaging innovation and unrivalled customer service.
Dairypack Cartons now offers a broad range of aseptic pack sizes, from 100 mℓ to 1 000 mℓ, in different shapes and constituting 28 options for customers to select from. He explains that the full system service includes fully integrated filling machines, multilayer packaging and matching closures, as well as the necessary downstream equipment for secondary packaging, to produce a finished product of the highest quality.
“This is augmented by Polyoak’s technical support on the ground and its extensive distribution networks, which are already well established in the liquid food, juice and dairy markets,” he says.
Boshoff adds that Greenway Farms, one of South Africa’s leading carrot farms, which delivers more than 200 t of Rugani brand carrots a day, is a good example of a business that can grow.
“Greenway Farms started in 1992 as a small farmer growing different types of vegetables for the South African National Fresh Produce Market. In 2000, Greenway Farms owners Vito Rugani and Vincent Sequeira decided to specialise in carrot farming and switch their vision to large-scale production.
“Today, 40% of carrots consumed in South Africa are Rugani. “Quality and health are Rugani’s pillars: juice contains 100% carrot juice and no preservatives,” he states.
He points out that to enhance its top-level product, Greenway Farms chose the new SuperSlim aseptic carton from Dairypack Cartons.
“Aseptic multilayer packaging is well suited for the dairy, fruit juice and liquid food markets, particularly in regions where the finished product is transported long distances or where refrigeration is a challenge,” he says.
He explains that the SuperSlim is a slender carton, which makes it impossible to miss on the shelf due to its tall, streamlined shape. In addition, Dairypack Cartons patented King Twist cap on the 750 mℓ – the largest opening ever on the aseptic carton market – makes the carton more convenient and easy to pour.
Boshoff concludes that the company looks forward to partnering with customers to explore and commercialise packaging opportunities to grow their businesses.
