Construction products specialist Verni’s Betocrete C-16, an organic, liquid con- crete admixture for crystalline water-proofing unlike others, prevents the formation of lumps, says Verni director Jenna-Lee Backos.
Beyond its waterproofing properties, Betocrete C-16 increases the durability of the concrete, notes Backos, adding that, during the hardening process, fine crystalline fibres are formed in the capillaries.
“These fibres reduce the diameter of the concrete pores and, therefore, block the water transport in the concrete matrix,” she adds.
Betocrete C-16 is specifically designed for the waterproofing of concrete structures such as tunnels, foundations, precast elements, parking facilities, reservoirs, (sewage) water treatment plants, swimming pools, aquariums and basements.
“Concrete modified with this product is permanently waterproof,” adds Verni MD Vernon Botha.
Verni’s locally manufactured products range from flowable, nonshrink grouts to extremely quick-setting grouts that set in 40 minutes.
The grouts are commonly used on column or vibrating machine base plates, for grouting of boltholes, and in areas where high flow ability is required or there is limited access.
Verni also has a range of concrete repair mortars suitable for both skimming concrete and thicker repair work – ranging from 10 mm onwards. The company’s epoxy crack filler is a highly viscose crack injection system suitable for in-depth saturation and extreme mechanical strength.
Verni’s multipurpose wet to dry primer is suit- able as a general-purpose primer for the pretreat-ment of concrete, steel, masonary, wood and other porous surfaces which, typically, are used for bonding wet concrete to existing concrete.
“We offer various expansion joint sealants, commonly polyurethane, polysulphide and sili- cone sealants, but more specialised is the high-performing bandaging tape for movement joints in water-retaining structures,” notes Botha.
“Verni-Flextape is a permanent, flexible waterproofing seal with high elasticity which, by thermal welding, ensures secure and watertight joints, and is best recommended for reservoirs and wastewater treatment works,” he adds.
